Clarke & Simpson Auction Centre has a rich history. It traded as the Wickham Market Sale Yard with its location – in Campsea Ashe, to be close to the town’s railway station! – ideal for delivering livestock to the Sale by train. Before 1922 livestock was bought and sold on The Hill (market square) in Wickham Market. Despite no longer featuring weekly livestock sales, the Auction Centre retains an element of those traditional rural markets.
