Saturdays are the main market day in Wickham Market. The weekly morning markets, run until 1pm, feature a variety of open-air stalls clustered on The Hill. Fresh fruit and vegetables, plus veg boxes, are always available, often fresh fish and seafood (weather permitting), and sometimes cakes, savouries, preserves, beer, olives, cheese, pickles and sauces. Look out for the village’s popular seasonal markets with up to 40 local artisans too. (There are four a year, Spring, Summer, Harvest and Christmas).

Four seasonal markets are held on a larger scale than the traditional weekly markets. Featuring up to 40 stalls, the Spring, Summer, Harvest and Christmas markets attract a wide range of artisan makers, crafters and producers. From craft beer producers to potters, the markets showcase everything local, from the best in food and drink to arts and crafts.

Auction centre for a traditional weekly (Monday) sale, retaining a rural market atmosphere. Six sales rooms, plus yard space. Specialised sales throughout the year. Operating for over a century. Featured in BBC TV programmes such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip.

Held annually in September at Snape Maltings – just 20 mins drive or a Katch bus ride away from Wickham Market! – the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival is a must-visit event for any foodie or lovers of delicious things local to Suffolk. Established two decades ago, it showcases 130+ local food and drink producers, includes live demo stages and masterclasses from celebrity chefs, free cooking fun for kids, live music and an impressive programme of fringe events.

The ‘UK’s first and finest’ Americana music festival is held annually in July at Easton Farm Park, just  2.5 miles from Wickham Market. The weekend features roots music from both sides of the Atlantic with music, dance  and music masterclasses from 50+ different artists. Just 20 mins drive or a Katch bus ride away from Wickham Market, Britten Pears Arts present inspiring programmes of music, arts offerings and exhibitions at the internationally famous Snape Maltings concert hall, arts and leisure complex. Highlights include the Aldeburgh Festival of Music & the Arts (June) , and Summer at Snape (July-August) which features renowned artists across many musical genres, with a limited number of special priced seats available for many performances, so that all can enjoy.
