One of our most important services for the village is providing mobility for people who can no
longer drive and helping them to keep their independence . This takes most of the hassle out of
visits to medical centres, the dentist as well as hospitals and clinics, while also ensuring that
prescriptions are punctually delivered to the patients who depend on them.
We rely on public-spirited people who are willing to use their time and private vehicles to provide
this service. Our current volunteers have been very generous with both time and vehicles for many years now and as we do not want to abuse their generosity, we are looking for people who are willing to take some of the load off their shoulders. The more kind people we can fall back on, the less of a burden this is for each individual.
We are now urgently appealing for drivers with valid licences to come forward and join our existing crew – please consider our appeal; we provide safe-guarding training and back-up through our phone-holding set-up as well as arranging the necessary DBS checks; there are standard charges through which drivers are reimbursed for fuel.
