Report on our June Meeting

JUNE welcomed two new members to our meeting, Helen and Carolyn. Lovely to see you both and hope you enjoyed the evening. Notices were read out including the marvellous result of our fundraising Fashion Show for our Chairmans Charity this year which is the Lowlands Search and Rescue in Suffolk. A member from the team will be coming to our AGM to accept the £250. donation and to give us a little insight into their work.

The Practice piece for Advanced was won by Jane Addison and the Single stem was won by Jenny Sheppard. Members were asked if they wished this monthly competition to continue. Continue was the unanimous vote. Therefore, we hope to see lots more entries from members in the future.

Ann Westover promoted the Wickham Market Village Show being held in August. Show schedules were available.

Paula promoted a Flower Festival with Music at St Margarets church, Hollingsworth Road Lowestoft on 19th and 20th July from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday with services at 12pm on the Saturday. Entrance is FREE. For more information, please contact simon@stmargaretslowestoft.co.uk

June then introduced our demonstrator for the evening who had been held up in an accident, lost in roadworks diversions and misled by her satnav. Oh dear we felt so sorry for her.

Madeleine Bradley. “Splendour of the Season”. Surprisingly unfazed by her long miserable journey to us, Madeline quickly set too and produced six beautiful designs in very interesting containers. The first one was of some beautiful mini sunflowers and lemon carnations with bear grass and medolina to create open space. Other designs followed using Apricot Roses, Hedgerow foliage, Buddleia, Canterbury Bells, Senecio, Lavender, Anthuriums, Antirrhinum Lilies and Hypericum berries. Each design was interesting and colourful and soon we had a lovely display on the stage. The vote of thanks was given by Bronwyn and members were able to take photos.

Following the raffle, some lucky members went home with one of the arrangements.

We wished Madeline a better journey home and reminded members that our next meeting would be on Thursday 25th of July when following a change to the programme we will have a talk and Demonstration by Victoria from The Meadow Patch in Worlingworth.

Doors open at 6.30pm for 7.00pm start. First visit is FREE
