Returning to its customary slot on the summer calendar, 2022 sees the Maverick Festival celebrating its fifteenth year.
Recognised as “the best alternative country festival in the UK “ (Americana UK) the event has been celebrating Americana since before the genre got its name, introducing the likes of Yola, Ward Thomas, Billy Bragg, Alejandro Escovedo, Larkin Poe, Jerry Joseph, Robyn Hitchcock (and even Ed Sheeran!) to an unsuspecting audience thereby cementing its reputation as taste-maker on the international American roots music scene.
It doesn’t hurt that the venue is spectacular. Easton Farm Park offers an assembly of restored Victorian farm buildings and barns set on thirty rolling acres of pasture nestled in the Deben valley a million miles from city life but a mere two hours from London.
This year will see the return of festival favourites TERRA LIGHTFOOT (Canada) and THE SAM CHASE (U.S.) as well as legacy artist and Grammy nominee STEVE FORBERT (U.S.) Swedish folk punk tearaways BASKERY, rockabilly barn stormers JD WILKES & THE LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS (U.S.) and Tex-Mex rockers THE VANDOLIERS (U.S.) Joining them from the UK will be Guardian five star favourite GWENIFER RAYMOND, and Australia’s answer to Bonnie Raitt, blues guitar shredder KARA GRAINGER.
Many more names will be added to fill six stages with the best sounds to be heard this side of the Mississippi.
