East Suffolk Council’s new Resilience coordinator is running some sessions in the area as drop ins for people to enquire about grants for those affected by flooding in recent times. Details below:
· Wickham Market (Southern Cluster) – Wednesday 19th February, 10:00-13:00 Wickham Market Library
· Framlingham (Central Cluster) – Thursday 20th February, 10:00-13:00, Framlingham Library
· Halesworth (Northern Cluster) – Tuesday 25th February, 10:00-13:00, Halesworth Library
This relates to the Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Grant Scheme that entitles those who reported internal flooding from Storm Babet, access to £5,000 to help make properties resilient to flooding in the future. The following link provides further details: Property flood resilience (PFR) grant scheme - Suffolk County Council. From information gathered, there are many individuals that are still yet to take advantage of this fund. In the hope to increase the uptake of this grant, we have arranged several informal community events, which will offer individuals the opportunity to speak to staff about the grant, including submitting an application, surveys and dispelling any myths relating to property insurance. As these are informal ‘drop in’ events, there will be no need for individuals to book in advance and residents can attend at any time while the event is on. The PFR grant is available until April 2025, making these events one of the last opportunities to speak to staff in person. To reach as many residents as possible, we have clustered the communities impacted into 3 locations but invite residents of surrounding parishes to attend their nearest event. The selected locations are above.
