Night-time freight trains carrying materials for the construction of Sizewell C are expected to begin running through the Leiston area from Monday 7 September.

Sizewell C has announced that it is targeting Monday 7 September 2026 for the start of scheduled deliveries by rail. The start date is dependent on the successful completion of final preparatory works over the coming days.

The move marks another significant stage in the project’s transport and logistics programme, following extensive improvements to the East Suffolk Line, Sizewell Branch Line and the new railway infrastructure serving the Sizewell C construction site.
